I’ve Moved To Gainesville, FL
I’m living in Gainesville for the winter because like any good Vermonter I hate snow, but unlike many good Vermonters I have the good fortune to be able to do my job from a remote location. For the next few months (at least) I’ll be enjoying the warm weather in the company of the many friends I’ve made in town during pasts visits.
The weekend of December 19th I packed up what I was able to fit in my car and began the trip to Gainesville. Here are some stats from my trip, modified and reposted from my facebook profile:
- 1401 Miles traveled
- 52.45 Gallons of fuel totaling $134.18
- 26.7 Miles per gallon
- Total travel time: 21 hours 55 minutes (excluding an overnight in a hotel)
- Average speed: 69.2 miles per hour (including stops for gas, a stop to clean my windows, and a car wash, but not including the aforementioned overnight)
I traveled 6 hours 35 minutes Saturday before being stopped by a nasty storm. I drove the balance (15 hours 20 minutes) on Sunday, arriving at my new apartment around 1:20 AM.
Something like an hour after my arrival, my dear friends Amanda and Bethany rushed across town to visit me, causing me to feel incredibly special and making the entire ordeal worthwhile.
