I’ve moved back to Vermont
A little less than a year after moving to Gainesville, FL, I’ve moved back to Vermont. All of my friends in Florida are very dear to me, but this is where I belong.
Unlike my last move, I don’t have stats on distance and time. Everything took longer and was more challenging this time, but it was well worth it because I had company. My dear friend Amanda has moved to Vermont with me. Actually I’ve moved with her, I suppose, since the move was prompted when she got an opportunity to transfer here for work: something she’s wanted to do for years. I figured the time was right for me to move as well, and having someone to travel with certainly made the driving more pleasant.
So that’s it. I’m back in Vermont and not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. I’m dreading the cold winter, but I’ve lived through enough of them to know I’ll be OK. And this time I have an almost-genuine Floridian to give me perspective; when I think it’s too cold I can remember how much worse it must be for her with her blood thinned by years away from winter’s chill.
